A Session on Environmental Concerns and Career Prospects in Environmental Studies

Gillco International School has always played host to a plethora of activities, workshops and lectures by experts that tease the creative and intellectual faculties of its students. Various activities, motivational sessions and informative sessions are organised from time to time by the management at Gillco so as to make the students cognizant and well informed. Eminent personalities and the Experts in their fields are invited to visit the campus to interact and enlighten the students on various issues that are often the need of the hour, and to guide them about career prospects in various fields.

We have shifted our hopes, irrevocably from the mechanistic view to a holistic and ecological view of The Planet Earth. In this regard, Dr. RAJEEV KUMAR, Chairperson & Assistant Professor, Department of Environment Studies, Punjab University, Chandigarh was invited to deliver a guest lecture on one of the most important issues today- Environmental Concerns and Career Prospects in Environmental Studies. He is amongst the top 2 percent world scientists in Environmental Science. He has numerous accolades to his credit. He has Qualified CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for JRF & SRF and LS in the subject of Chemical Science conducted by CSIR-UGC in June 2005. Also, he has been shortlisted for Shyama Prasad Mukerjee Fellowship (SPM).

Gillconians were fortunate enough to have him today at their campus. He enlightened the students about the transcending concern towards environmental issues and our ethical obligations to be good stewards of the planet. He talked about various career prospects in Environmental Studies.

The session was followed by a Q/A round and students from grades 11 and 12 asked their queries from Dr. Rajeev Kumar.

The Principal, Ms. Ruchi Sharma thanked him for his valuable guidance and for conditioning the minds of young generations. She motivated the students to become responsible citizens. She talked about the emerging new world vision that has ushered in this era of responsibility.

Overall. It was indeed a fruitful and marvellous session that left everyone to analyse the need and responsibility towards mother earth.
