16th September 2023: The India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) is proud to announce the inauguration of the IESA Europe Chapter, a significant step in furthering its global presence and fostering collaboration in the electronics and semiconductor industry. The momentous event took place on September 15, 2023, at the prestigious Hotel Warwick in Geneva, Switzerland. The inauguration ceremony witnessed a gathering of esteemed dignitaries, both in person and virtually, who shared their valuable insights and visions for the future of the Electronics and Semiconductor sector. The event was marked by insightful addresses and discussions by the key figures in the industry.
The special inauguration was started with a welcome address by Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of IESA, who set the tone for the event by highlighting the association’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration across borders. “Inaugurating the IESA Europe Chapter is a momentous occasion that underscores our commitment to fostering international collaboration and innovation in the Electronics and Semiconductor industry. With this expansion into Europe, we look forward to creating a global ecosystem that propels India to the forefront of technological excellence in close partnership with MEA(NEST) & MeiTY, Govt of India, as well as Indian diaspora that is very much present in European ecosystem. Our sincere regards and Thanks to the Shri Mahaveer Singhvi ji from Ministry of External Affairs (JS, MEA – NEST) who is the big inspiration behind this initiative and Shri Amitesh Sinha ji (JS, MeiTY) for for his great support and motivation to IESA to continue to collaborate across India and global semiconductors ecosystem. Together, we will forge new technology partnerships, share knowledge, and drive semiconductors advancements that not only benefit our industry but also contribute to the growth and development of our nations. IESA is proud to lead this transformative journey, and we invite all stakeholders to join us in shaping the future of technology,” he said.
The IESA Europe Chapter was inaugurated by to Shri Deepak Bansal, the First Secretary of Embassy of India, Switzerland who shared his insights on the importance of international collaboration in technology and innovation. He congratulated IESA for inaugurating the Europe Chapter on the special occasion of Engineers Day and further mentioned that the deep technology R&D of Europe can be purposefully leveraged by the Indian industries to get the technical advantage in its quest for enhancing its capabilities in the ESDM industry. He also talked about how niche companies are supporting India’s strategic electronics collaborations with the European tech companies and how that can be further expanded.
Also in attendance was Shri Sanjeev Sharma, Chairperson of IESA Europe, presented a short-term roadmap for the European chapter, outlining its objectives and strategies for the future. Other prominent speakers at the event included Mr Ole Hultberg, CEO of Inisson, Sweden, and Mr Gareth Tan, Associate Director of Apco Worldwide, Singapore. An Open House session was also conducted, allowing members attending virtually to engage with the dignitaries and ask questions, fostering an interactive dialogue and knowledge exchange.
Sri K. Krishna Moorthy, CEO & President of IESA, graced the occasion in person and delivered his talk, emphasizing the significance of the European chapter and its role in advancing technological growth. Commenting on the event, he said, “The inauguration of the Europe Chapter of IESA is a landmark event for the Indian electronics and semiconductor industry. As India prepares to become the electronics manufacturing destination of the world this decade, IESA’s presence in Europe will help leverage the best practices in Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, etc. where Europe leads the world today. The inauguration of IESA’s Europe chapter, which coincides with the day India celebrates the ‘Engineers Day’, is a proud moment for all of us.”
The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt note of thanks delivered by Dr. V Veerappan, Vice Chairman of IESA, expressing gratitude to all participants for their support and commitment to the association’s mission. “IESA’s Europe Chapter will be a harbinger of greater collaboration and cooperation between Indian companies with European conglomerates and will address the touch points of skilling, policy, academia and industry collaborations for the future. We extend our warmest thanks to all our partners, supporters, and members who make this journey possible. We are also grateful to the Embassy of India at Berne, Switzerland, Permanent Mission of India at WTO in Geneva. We, at IESA, stand committed to making India a go-to design, packaging and manufacturing destination for semiconductors and ESDM,” he said in his address.
