17880 Mumbai citizens died due to heart disease in 2021
Mumbai- According to data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) showed that in 2019, a total of 5,849 patients lost their lives to heart attacks in Mumbai. This dropped slightly by 3.6 percent when in 2020, 5,633 patients succumbed to the disease. But, to everyone’s surprise, in the period between Jan-June 2021, a total of 17,880 succumbed to heart attacks in Mumbai with a surge of 217%. Immediate treatment is essential after a heart attack or Stroke. Because after a heart attack, every minute is important for that person until he reaches the hospital. CPR -Cardio (Heart) Pulmonary (Lungs) Resuscitation (Revival) is helpful for a patient who is not breathing after a severe shock. This increases the chances of the person surviving until further help. To make awareness about First Aid Treatment, Apex Hospital Borivali has recently conducted CPR Training for all their staff. The objective of these training sessions is timely preventative actions that can be performed in an emergency. Dr. Manish Dubey and Dr. Rajendra Kamble have given CPR training to Apex Hospital employees.
Giving more information about this, Nikhil Jadhav, Chief Marketing Officer, Apex Group of Hospitals said, “Mumbai is facing new diseases every day. Mumbai citizens are facing numerous diseases like Sars-Swine Flu and Corona epidemic. On the one hand, the constantly changing weather, air pollution, and unsanitary conditions in Mumbai are creating a fertile environment for diseases. If someone collapses due to cardiac arrest, it is necessary to perform CPR. Currently, heart disease can develop due to many reasons. The main reason being the lifestyle and the other being our food habits. It is more than often that people are unaware of their health. The time of heart attack or cardiac arrest is never known however if someone trained on even CPR BLS can actually save life. Training includes the entire protocol of CAB which is defined by the American Heart Institute. Apex group of Hospitals have decided to train more than 5000 citizens in Mumbai on CPR BLS, this would also include auto drivers, taxi drivers who are continuously on the move and readily available as well.”
