The 70 year old female patient came to Wockhardt Hospital with severe anemic ondition. She was being investigated and treated for anaemia since last two months elsewhere , and had received multiple blood transfusion. But in spite of that her hemoglobin levels were not upto the mark. Her outside CT Scan was done which suggested small bowel mass?Inflammatory. Hence she was advised a costly investigation Enteroscopy at Hyderabad.
But as the patient was not in a position to spend money on such costly treatment , they approached Dr. Ramakant Tayade said Dr. Tayade. Then they discussed the problem with Dr. Tayade and they were asked to come to Nagpur for investigation . She is a treated case of Leiomyosarcoma right hand a malignant form of soft tissue tumor in the past. She was thoroughly investigated at Wockhardt Hospitals Nagpur for anaemia , as a team by Dr Tayade himself, Heamatologist, Gastroenterologist, and Physician.
After thorough investigations Dr. Tayade came to the conclusion that the reason for her anaemia is blood loss through small intestines. As the patient was poor and couldn’t afford the costly investigation I.e. Enteroscopy , Dr. Tayade did diagnostic Laparoscopy and found out that there is mass in small intestine which is causing intestinal obstruction and the probable cause of anaemia. Surgery was done and that part of small intestine was removed. Patient recovered well from surgery and was discharged in stable condition.
THE CASE WAS ALSO UNIQUE IN THE SENSE THAT SHE IS CASE OF RARE condition Situs inversus , a rare condition where all the organs of the body exchange their position and also **the histopath of the resected specimen is a very rare occurrence .
