India, May 01, 2023: Yulu, India’s largest shared 2 wheelers electric mobility player, is doubling-down on its green and shared electric mobility services in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai. With 3500+ vehicles on the road it has already increased its fleet size by 3 times in 2023 and aims to exit the year with 10,000+ vehicles on the road.
Yulu has seen an encouraging response from users in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai with over 150,000+ kms of rides being taken everyday on Yulu. The entire fleet of vehicles in Mumbai & Navi Mumbai comprises Yulu’s New Generation EVs that are purpose-built for people and goods mobility. Yulu DeX, its shared mobility vehicle meant for deliveries, is powering over 30K green deliveries everyday. Yulu Miracle, its shared mobility vehicle for last mile commute sees over 2000 users using it everyday for their needs. Since inception Yulu’s shared EVs have helped save over 2.2 million tonnes of CO2 and helped reduce the pollution levels.
R.K. Misra, Co-Founder, Yulu, said, “Yulu’s vision is to make urban mobility green, affordable and accessible for all. We are very glad to expand our services in Mumbai, a city that is an epitome of speed, efficiency and opportunity. Yulu’s shared mobility services provide a convenient, smart & affordable mobility option not just for daily commuters but also enable citizens with limited resources, like delivery executives, to dream big and strive for a better future. New services like ours can work only when policymakers, governments, city authorities & businesses come together for a common vision. We are enthused by the love given to us by Mumbaikars and involvement of the authorities so far and are confident that with their support especially in creating more Yulu zones and energy infrastructure, we can make shared electric mobility the next big mobility frontier for Navi Mumbai & Mumbai”
The company has operations in Greater Mumbai (Andheri, BKC, Bandra West) and in Navi Mumbai (Vashi, Koparkhairne, Nerul and CBD), providing services in over 200 sq. km. As part of its growth strategy, the company expects to go deeper into existing serviceable areas, as well as expand its services in Central and South Mumbai, and plans to set up Yulu Zones at 200 more prominent locations in the next quarter with the help of local authorities.
The growth in mobility services is complemented by an in-tandem growth of supporting energy infrastructure by Yuma Energy – one of India’s largest AI-powered battery swapping networks – that ensures near-zero down-time of Yulu’s vehicles. With close to 20 Yuma stations already operational, the company plans to triple the touch points in the next 2 quarters.
Yulu works with a “3C” (Citizen-Corporate-City) partnership approach, to build its presence at high commuter foot-fall areas like Metro stations, Corporate Industrial parks, and resident welfare associations (RWAs). Yulu has also forged strong relationships with Government bodies like MCGM, MMRDA, NMMC, CIDCO, Central and Western Railway, Mumbai Electricity Boards, educational institutions like IIT Bombay, and companies like Adani Electricity.
As a responsible corporate citizen, Yulu has undertaken several initiatives to make a meaningful contribution to society. In association with Mumbai Traffic Police Headquarters, Worli, Yulu introduced Mumbai’s first “Safe Rider” Program – a First-ever road safety and traffic awareness program created for delivery partners for their safety and that of others. Yulu also partnered with Majhi Vasundhara (Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Maharashtra) to promote climate change awareness with an EV rally and encourage a switch towards sustainable mobility solutions for reducing the carbon footprint of the cities as part of World Earth Day, 2023.
