Bangalore, 10 May 2023: In line with its sustained commitment towards its mission to enhance health, and improve the standard of living among local communities, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today announced the handing over of three community-based water purification units, the first unit in Chikkamaskal, Sregiripura Grama Panchayat, second in Bestarapalya, Hanchikuppe Grama Panchayat, Magadi Taluk, Ramanagara District and third in Keelara, Keelara Grama Panchayat, Mandya Taluk, Mandya District. These drinking water units serve as important lifeline for the local communities, providing access to safe and clean drinking water.
Each one of the newly set up units are capable of purifying 1000 litres per hour using a 6-stage purification and a real-time water monitoring system that will provide data on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and PH value. In addition, the installed units are equipped with solar system, power backup and wastewater management mechanism to ensure efficient water dispensing while minimizing energy consumption. To ensure proper functioning of the unit, TKM has entered into a 15-years maintenance agreement with an agency to ensure availability of drinking water to the beneficiaries and sustainability of the initiative. TKM’s collaboration with local Grama Panchayats and the community has been instrumental in the successful implementation of such initiatives, fostering a sense of ownership and collective responsibility.
The installed three drinking water units will benefit over 30,000 individuals covering 18 villages in Ramanagara and Mandya districts. Cumulatively, TKM has so far installed 46 water units till date benefiting over 3.1 lakh individuals, spanning across 285 villages in India. This milestone achievement reflects the organization’s commitment to prioritizing the health and well-being of community members, thereby contributing to their overall socio-economic development.
