Nestled opposite the lush greens of Delhi’s Qutub Golf course lies the capital’s newest eatery Maruchi. A mystical world of Asian delicacies, a strikingly immersive ambience and crafty cocktails, the restaurant is a South Eastern travelogue for the tastebuds. The eatery aces the flavours of Japan, China amidst others, bringing to the table a story of unique flavours and delicacies. Promising diners a multifaceted experience, the name Maruchi itself translates to “multi” in Japanese.

Launched by a family rooted in hospitality for generations, patriarch Manoj Aggarwal is Founder of the classic hotel Alka located in Connaught place since 1968. The hospitality graduate from Austria also ran other successful ventures like Fbar and Climax. Following suit, Manoj’s son Shubham Agarwal completed his Bachelors from Les Roches, Switzerland while daughter Manasvi Agarwal attained a degree in arts from the University of Bath, UK. Speaking about the launch, Co-Founder Shubham Agarwal said “From childhood until now- Japanese culture has heavily inspired me, be it through Anime, Manga or Pokemon- I always immersed myself into their world of minimalism, creativity and hospitality. I sought to bring a slice of Japan to town, and did so by bridging the gap in the restaurant industry noticing a lack of teppanyaki dining in the capital”

With a menu developed by top notch chefs, must haves on Maruchi’s menu include the red snapper with banana chilli, the truffle scented 3 treasure mushrooms, the luscious selection of sushis, the truffle enoki tempura, or the yuzu tuna with black garlic amongst many others. Inclusive of the various dietary restrictions one might possess, the eatery is equipped to cater to gluten allergies, vegan customers and any other dietary constraints of their guests making them at ease and welcome. A teppanyaki grill centred in the midst of the restaurant and personal kitchen garden growing fresh and organic produce set the restaurant apart from others.

The vision behind the bar menu lay in wanting to display 12 signature cocktails with premium pours. The drinks at Maruchi find within them an incorporation of trends merged with classic favourites with gin, tequila, mezcal and more. A must sip and savour on the menu is the malachite – a gin based cocktail with elderflower and infused kaffir leaves.

Encapsulating Shubman’s love for Japanese theatrics and Manasvi’s immaculate design sensibilities, Maruchi comes to life in all its splendour with its murals of herons, sakura trees, a zen garden, a waterfall with a koi pond, a beautiful onyx bar, live performances by brilliant artists, hand painted cherry blossoms on the walls, transporting guests to a busy street in Osaka. The outdoor area of Maruchi provides an unparalleled view of the eye soothing golf course greens, with a section of the area fully air conditioned to beat the heat in Summers.

To create an exclusive experience for guests, Maruchi holds an air conditioned private dining area in the middle of the kitchen garden. Seating 8-10 people, experiential curations such as a chef’s special menu using in house produce is prepared- paired with exotic wines. A live band performs exclusively for the guests while a decorator is brought in to create the visual the host desires to tie it perfectly together. The top floor is equipped to hold larger gatherings- making it the perfect spot to host memorable private parties.

Maruchi is operational for dinner between 6pm to 1am, however in the near future plans to serve from lunch onwards. Treat yourself to a luxe experience for all senses with Maruchi.
