Highlighting the importance of a teacher’s strong and dutiful role in a student’s life, DPS Indirapuram organised an enlightening session to depict the presence of a symbiotic relationship between educators and students, characterised by a deep sense of respect and reverence for the former.
The first session talked about the crucial role that teachers and mentors play in the students’ academic and holistic progress and how vital is it for teachers to know their students well so that they can guide them in a comprehensive manner. It was conducted by Ms Sakshi Buddhiraja, who is DPS Indirapuram’s school counsellor.
In the course of the session, she also explained to teachers about different learning disorders and the importance of practising utmost sensitivity and care while communicating with children with special abilities.
The second session was presided over by Ms Sakshi Khanna, PGT Psychology. She gave a presentation titled ‘More than just a teacher ‘, which beautifully described the multiplicity of roles that a teacher plays in students’ growth and strategic development. She praised their contributions and also advised them to strike a balance between different parts of their lives and not roil in negativity and instead focus on maintaining inner calmness.
The sessions proved to be an eye-opener for students and amazingly enriching for teachers inspiring them to deal sagaciously with different challenges inside and outside the classroom every day.
Sangeeta Hajela, Principal, DPS Indirapuram, said, “A teacher-student relationship is one of the most significant hallmarks of human life, as enshrined in our Indian cultural traditions. These sessions were to foster a sense of mutual respect, harmony and a grateful, humble awareness of each other’s importance in their respective lives. It was amazing to see such a warm and congenial environment full of listening ears and cooperative nature. The essence of the teacher-student bond was beautifully captured in presentations and also taught new learnings on emotional intelligence. I extend my gratitude to everyone who made the session a success.”
