Pedal on and Tanisa Foundation Event for Cancer Patients

New Delhi, 9th August 2023: Pedal On, the social arm of SecondAct that addresses emotional, psychological and social and financial wellbeing of underprivileged women and girls has started ‘Reel Heroes for Real Life Heroes’ initiative to raise funds for Cancer Patients treatment. Among the first of the ‘Breakfree: Forget Cancer’ events in collaboration with Tanisa Foundation, a non-profit working in cancer care, an unforgettable cinema experience was organized at PVR INOX Saket Cinema. This was a day of celebration for patients, caregivers and supporters to come together as a community to just live in the moment and have fun despite all the struggles.

Cancer is still a stigmatized disease in India, and many patients face discrimination from their families, friends, and community. This can make it difficult for patients to get the emotional support they need. The long-term treatment, surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and medication required for cancer can be physically, mentally, emotionally and financially draining for both patients and caregivers. This overwhelming situation often leads them to feel like giving up.

Speaking on the occasion, Archana Dutta, Founder, Pedal On, said, “We are extremely proud to support social causes like Cancer Relief through our collaboration with Tanisa Foundation who are striving to create a positive and supportive atmosphere in the cancer community. The support for the initiative has been overwhelming as we aim to provide Pedal On as a platform for more of such organizations and initiatives. At Pedal On, a metaphor for turning the wheels of life, we support organizations working at the grassroots level helping their stakeholders ride past their own boundaries on the way to transformation and unadulterated joy”.

Tanisa Foundation is fully dedicated to helping the entire cancer community. It aims to subsidize the mammoth cost of treatment of cancer for needy and poor patients and helps early detection of cancer among rural and urban Indian women through awareness-building campaigns.

Acknowledging Pedal On for their support, Meenakshi Dhingra, Founder, Tanisa Foundation, said, “We are extremely grateful to Pedal On who have given a new dimension to our ‘Breakfree: Forget Cancer’ events through this amazing movie screening for patients and caregivers. Through these initiatives, we strive to remove the stigma and fear associated with cancer, empowering individuals to seek early medical attention and treatment when needed. By promoting early detection and reducing barriers to screening, the foundation aims to improve the outcomes and overall well-being of those affected by cancer in the community”.

Pedal On is a safe, diverse and inclusive organization which through a multilateral approach helps women and young girls to pedal on to their better version of their whole self so that they are in control of their lives. It addresses their environmental, physical, spiritual, psychological and financial health through resilience building programs and initiatives.
